Employees of Washington County Hospital in Plymouth, N.C., are concerned about the facility's future, according to local TV station WCTI.
The hospital, owned by Kansas City, Mo.-based EmpowerHMS, is facing financial challenges. Employees didn't receive their paychecks Feb. 8, and staff told WCTI that the hospital lacks needed supplies.
"There are plans to resolve the issues but they just have not occurred yet," Washington County Hospital CEO Melanie Perry said in an interview with WCTI on Feb. 12.
She also said there is a possibility the hospital may close.
"I'm dealing with the same issues you are," she told WCTI. "I'm right there with you and if I had my choice I'd rather it happen to me than everybody here."
Several other hospitals owned or managed by EmpowerHMS have encountered financial issues in recent months. One of the company's hospitals in Kansas abruptly shut down Feb. 14, according to The Garden City Telegram.
