The Trump administration denied New York state's request to extend its Medicaid waiver program, Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Feb. 25.
In the long term, the decision will mean $8 billion in Medicaid cuts to hospitals and health networks across the state, Mr. Cuomo said. In the short term, $625 million in funding will be lost, he said.
The Medicaid waiver expires March 31. New York state officials had requested a four-year extension for its waiver program, known as the Delivery System Reform Incentive Program, that aimed to reduce hospital readmissions and emergency department misuse, according to Buffalo Business Report.
