Data analytics firm MultiPlan has named Doug Garis executive vice president and CFO, effective Aug. 5.
Jim Head, who has served as executive vice president and CFO since November 2021, will transition to a strategic advisor role through the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition, according to an Aug. 1 MultiPlan news release.
Mr. Garis most recently served as CFO of Oracle's largest vertical industry, Oracle Health and Life Sciences, according to the release. In that role, he led all financial operations following Oracle's $28 billion acquisition of Cerner. He was previously the head of financial planning and analysis at Cerner.
MultiPlan's CEO, Travis Dalton, has met with Senate staff in recent weeks after senators requested the Federal Trade Commission and Justice Department investigate MultiPlan. The calls for investigations came after The New York Times published an investigation alleging MultiPlan helped insurers collect millions in fees. Mr. Dalton said the FTC and DOJ have not contacted MultiPlan.
Mr. Dalton told Politico his meetings with staff of the Senate Committee on Finance and Health, Education, Labor and Pensions allowed the company to address misconceptions.
Three health systems, including Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems, have also sued MultiPlan, alleging they were underpaid by MultiPlan and insurers.
