Mississippi distributed $658.2 million in additional hospital payments through its recently approved Mississippi Hospital Access Program, SuperTalk Mississippi Media reported Jan. 10.
The program provides direct payments to hospitals serving patients in the state's Medicaid managed care delivery system, according to the report. Hospitals are reimbursed at the same rate compensated by private insurers.
Gov. Tate Reeves announced the program in September as several hospitals in the state deal with the threat of closure, according to the report. CMS approved the largest component of the plan in December.
Mississippi is one of 10 states that has not expanded Medicaid through the ACA.
