Lawmakers greenlight aid for 4 rural Arkansas hospitals

Arkansas lawmakers have given the green light to disburse more than $16 million in federal funding to four rural hospitals, the Arkansas Advocate reported Oct. 23.

The four hospitals set to receive American Rescue Plan Act funds are:

  • Mountain Home-based Baxter Health: $4.5 million
  • Salem-based Fulton County Hospital: $5 million
  • Paragould-based Arkansas Methodist Medical Center: $3.3 million
  • Nashville-based Howard Memorial Hospital: $3.4 million

The approval brings the total number of Arkansas hospitals to receive ARPA funds to seven, according to the report. Camden-based Ouachita County Medical Center received $6 million in September 2022, De Queen-based Sevier County Medical Center received $6.5 million in December and Monticello-based Drew Memorial Health System received $5 million in June.
