Indiana University Health Foundation, the fundraising arm of Indianapolis-based IU Health, has launched a $200 million campaign, the first of its kind since the foundation was started in 2018, according to an Oct. 24 Indianapolis Business Journal report.
Money raised from the campaign is expected to target aspects such as community health initiatives and technology innovation as well as the recruitment of healthcare staff.
The foundation has already raised approximately $125 million toward the goal from a variety of sources but believed the time was ripe for an official launch, the report said.
"We felt that at this point, there were some really important programs and initiatives that were gaining momentum," Crystal Miller, the foundation's president, said. "It was the right time for our foundation to work with IU Health to create a campaign to really mobilize our donors."
Indiana is ranked among the least healthy states in the country, with life expectancy two years below the national average, the report said.
