Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health has signed an agreement with Alignment Health Plan, effective Jan. 1, that provides Alignment's Nevada members access to more than 65 of the health system's clinics in the state.
Medicare-eligible residents of Nevada's Clark and Washoe counties who enroll with Alignment during the annual enrollment period, Oct. 15 to Dec. 7, will have access to Intermountain services including primary, specialty and urgent care beginning Jan. 1.
In these counties, Alignment is offering four HMO options: a special needs plan for members with qualifying chronic heart conditions and diabetes, a special needs plan for those enrolled in both Medicare and Medicaid, and its Platinum + Instacart plan.
Orange, Calif.-based Alignment Healthcare was founded in 2013 and offers Medicare Advantage plans in six states, according to its website.
Instacart, a grocery delivery company, and Alignment launched the co-branded MA plan this year in 13 counties across California and Nevada. The plan is part of Instacart's push into healthcare, with recent initiatives allowing providers to order food and medical supplies for patients through the platform, along with prescription food delivery services for Medicaid managed care plans.
"Joining forces with Intermountain Health, one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the mountain states, is an exciting step forward for Alignment Health Plan and the Nevada communities we serve," Dawn Maroney, CEO of Alignment Health Plan and president, markets of the plan's parent company, Alignment Health, said in an Oct. 3 news release. "With nearly a third of Nevadans aged 65 and older living in Clark and Washoe counties, this partnership gives our members access to the high-quality care that Intermountain is known for."
Intermountain is a nonprofit system comprising 33 hospitals, 385 clinics and more than 4,600 employed physicians and advanced care providers, according to its website. It also includes a health plans division called Select Health with more than 1 million members.
In January, Select Health began offering MA plans as well as individual and family health insurance plans on the Colorado exchange as part of its partnership with UCHealth.
