As part of a cost reduction effort across the organization, Davenport, Iowa-based Genesis Health System will close its clinic in Muscatine, Iowa July 31, reports the Muscatine Journal.
The closure announcement of Genesis Health Group, Muscatine Family Practice and Women's Health comes days after Genesis Health said it would eliminate 48 positions across the network, including 12 executive positions.
"Genesis, along with the majority of healthcare organizations across the country, must address the challenges of shrinking reimbursement and escalating costs that are causing extreme financial pressures on the provider side of healthcare," said Genesis Health Group's Executive Medical Officer Kurt Andersen, MD.
Genesis officials said patients served at the Muscatine clinic will be absorbed into other local clinics. Genesis has 40 clinics across Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois, not including the Muscatine facility.
All services offered at the clinic will be available until July 31.
In January 2018, Moody's Investors Service affirmed Genesis Health Systems' "A1" rating and stable outlook.
