Health insurer Cigna's acquisition of HealthSpring, one of the country's largest Medicare Advantage plans, has received federal antitrust approval, which satisfies one of the transaction's conditions, according to a Cigna news release.
The transaction is expected to close during the first half of 2012 and still must earn approval from HealthSpring stockholders and undergo state regulatory reviews.
