Several organizations — ranging from churches to local governments — have partnered with RIP Medical Debt to relieve millions of dollars worth of medical debt. Here are eight RIP Medical Debt partnerships Becker's has reported since Oct. 3.
1. ApolloMD, a clinical services provider for hospitals and health systems, and Cascade365, an accounts receivable company for healthcare, partnered up to work with RIP Medical Debt to eliminate more than $350 million of medical debt held by 80,000 patients.
2. The San Mateo County (Calif.) Board of Supervisors approved an agreement that will relieve $135.4 million in debt for 72,399 residents.
3. Healthcare IT company GetInsured partnered with RIP Medical Debt to relieve more than $1 million in medical debt held by 2,043 Virginians. GetInsured has partnered with the organization seven times to eliminate debt.
4. South Carolina donors raised funds to forgive $11.9 million in hospital bills for 12,7000 families in the state.
5. Several Episcopal churches in the St. Louis area partnered with RIP Medical Debt to eliminate more than $5.5 million in residents' medical debt.
6. Toledo, Ohio and Lucas County, Ohio, each committed $800,000 in American Rescue Plans funds to eliminate up to $240 million in medical debt for residents.
7. Three Western Pennsylvania churches partnered with RIP Medical Debt to forgive more than $5 million in outstanding medical bills.
8. Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Trinity Moravian Church raised enough money to relieve all qualifying medical debt in Forsyth County.
