Consumers will have a greater selection of health plans to choose from when shopping for health insurance on the marketplaces, as 63 more insurers will offer marketplace coverage in 2015, according to an HHS report.
Preliminary data from 36 states that use the federal marketplace showed 57 more insurers will offer health plans in 2015, which is a 30 percent net increase over this year. In addition four of the 36 states will have at least double the number of insurers they had in 2014.
The data also revealed eight states that established their own marketplaces will have a total of six more insures offering plans on their exchanges in 2015, which is a 10 percent increase over this year.
At least 67 of the insurers offering plans on the federal marketplace and 10 on the state-based marketplaces will be new to the exchanges in 2015.
