Three hospitals that have been recently fined by CMS for alleged price transparency violations are appealing their punishments.
Doctors' Center Hospital Bayamón (Puerto Rico), Samaritan Hospital-Albany (N.Y.) Memorial Campus and Lares, Puerto Rico-based Hospital General Castañer are appealing their fines, according to a Sept. 25 update on CMS' price transparency enforcement website.
All three hospitals were fined in late August. Doctor's Center Hospital was fined $102,200; Hospital General Castañer was fined $101,400 and Samaritan Hospital was fined $56,940.
The latest appeals bring the total number of hospitals appealing their price transparency fines to six. Salem, Ark.-based Fulton County Hospital, Chicago-based Community First Medical Center and Wichita Falls, Texas-based Kell West Regional Hospital appealed their fines earlier this year.
To date, 14 hospitals have been fined for price transparency violations.
