Of the 10 companies and organizations spending the most money lobbying Congress and federal agencies in the first quarter 2015, three are healthcare-related.
Maplight, a nonpartisan research organization that analyzes money's influence on politics, looked at federal lobbying disclosure filings from the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives between Jan. 1 and March 31 of this year.
Their research indicates the American Medical Association spent approximately $6.7 million lobbying Congress, making it the third top lobbyer of the quarter.
Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America came in at No. 6, spending approximately $5.4 million. Rounding out the list at No. 10 is the American Hospital Association, with a reported $4.6 million spent on lobbying.
The Chamber of Commerce of the USA and National Association of Realtors topped the list with the first and second spots, spending approximately $13.8 million and $7.7 million, respectively.
