20-Plus Ohio Hospitals, Health Systems Join Aetna's Medicare Advantage Network

Hartford, Conn.-based health insurer Aetna announced new Medicare Advantage contracts that add more than 20 Ohio hospitals and systems to its network.

Medicare Advantage plans pay a flat monthly fee, with adjustments for sicker patients, and place financial risk on providers in exchange for rewarding them with profit when care costs fall below reimbursement.

Hospitals in Aetna's Medicare Advantage network are not necessarily included in its commercial and Medicaid networks.

The new Ohio facilities are:
•    Ashtabula County Medical Center in Ashtabula
•    Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster
•    Henry County Hospital in Napoleon
