Valley Health breaks ground on $800M replacement hospital

Ridgewood, N.J.-based Valley Health broke ground last week on its $800 million replacement for its flagship hospital in Ridgewood, according to the North Jersey Record

The seven-story hospital will house bigger rooms and 372 beds. It will be connected to a 1,500-space parking garage.

The facility will replace the aging Valley Hospital, which is licensed for 451 beds.

The new hospital is expected to open in 2023.

Hospital executives said the replacement was needed to ensure more space in operating rooms, patient rooms and the emergency department.

The old facility will be used for a range of outpatient services, including urgent care, laboratory and medical offices.
