New York hospital to build patient pavilion with 90 private rooms

Bay Shore, N.Y.-based Southside Hospital plans to construct a patient pavilion with 90 private rooms and a five-story employee parking garage, Newsday reports.

In addition to the 90 private patient rooms, the pavilion will feature four operating rooms and 48 pre- and post-operative holding rooms. The employee parking garage will add 1,040 spaces, which will leave the hospital's existing 940 spaces open for patients and visitors.

The hospital will tear down a building they own on the northeast side of campus to build the garage.

Southside Hospital must apply for a zoning change with the Town of Islip before construction can begin.

Pending approval, the hospital will break ground on the project in 2019.
