Mount Sinai opens urgent care center

New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System opened its new, full service express care center next to its emergency room Dec. 10.

The Mount Sinai Express Care center offers immediate care for minor injuries and illnesses and accepts walkin patients. The center is staffed by emergency physicians from Mount Sinai.

"This new center provides treatment to patients who need immediate care but don’t require the full services of an emergency department," said Judah Fierstein, MD, director of urgent care services for the department of emergency medicine and assistant professor of emergency medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. "The center's location on the campus of the Mount Sinai Hospital provides ideal access to top-notch specialists if additional care is needed."
