Utica, N.Y.-based Mohawk Valley Health System will break ground on its $480 million hospital this week, according to local radio station WRVO Public Media.
The 672,000-square-foot, 10-story hospital in downtown Utica is expected to house 373 beds, an emergency department, birthing center and conference meeting spaces.
"For us, this really is the beginning of what we believe is the future of healthcare in our region, but more importantly, the future of the downtown landscape in the city of Utica," Mohawk Valley Health System COO Bob Scholefield told WRVO.
Construction is expected to end in 2023.
