Medical City Dallas will spend $92 million to convert the former Forest Park Medical Center into a campus housing heart and spine hospitals that will open in October, according to The Dallas Morning News.
The currently vacant facility is across the highway from the Medical City Dallas main campus. Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, Medical City's parent company, bought the 190,000-square-foot building in 2016, and it has been empty since.
Medical City Heart Hospital will have 63 private patient rooms and a dedicated cardiac emergency room, while Medical City Spine Hospital will have 24 private patient rooms.
"We believe specialized care provides better outcomes, shorter length of stays and better patient experience," said Chris Mowan, CEO of Medical City Dallas.
