Safety Harbor, Fla.-based Mease Countryside Hospital, part of Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System, began its $156 million expansion project, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The project includes constructing a four-story patient tower with 70 private rooms, a 30-bed observation unit and a 950-space parking garage. The tower will establish a cohesive unit for critical care services, align outpatient and inpatient surgical services, and expand women's care services and outpatient chemotherapy services.
"We are responding to the growing needs of our surrounding community by enhancing access and efficiency, which we believe will improve the experience of our patients and their families," Mease Countryside Hospital President Lou Galdieri said, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The hospital is expected to open in August 2020.
