Allegheny Health Network and Highmark Health, both based in Pittsburgh, have opened the first downtown medical center offering primary care, physical therapy and other health services, reports the Post Gazette.
The number of residents living in downtown Pittsburgh has jumped 25 percent to more than 15,000 in the last five years — sparking the demand for the medical center.
The 7,600-square-foot AHN Downtown Medical Center, open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., houses 16 exam rooms, X-ray services and space for women's healthcare. It also offers AHN's executive health and wellness program and concierge-style program for local business leaders.
The medical center is part of AHN and Highmark's commitment to invest $1.3 billion in new facilities throughout the region.
