88-bed Idaho hospital to open in November

The Idaho Falls Community Hospital, a new 88-bed facility will open Nov. 4, according to EastIdahoNews.com.

The 182,000-square-foot facility will house an emergency department, intensive care unit and space for inpatient services. The hospital cost $116 million to build, but an additional $25 million will be spent on operational costs and equipment.

The new hospital is being built next to Mountain View Hospital, a physician-owned facility in Idaho Falls. Since Mountain View is physician-owned, there are federal limits on its size, according to the report.

Although Mountain View and Idaho Falls Community are separate companies, they will be allies in taking care of patients in Idaho.

The facility was built in response to the community's outcry for more choices in emergency and inpatient care in the community, according to the Post-Register.
