UNC Health Care achieves HIMSS stage 7 designation

Chapel Hill-based University of North Carolina Health Care received Stage 7 designation within the HIMSS Analytics EMR Adoption Model.

The health system achieved the designation for hospitals, outpatient practices and advanced analytics. It is the only health system in the U.S. to achieve Stage 7 designation within all three HIMSS Analytics domains.

The Stage 7 designation recognizes all UNC Health Care's hospitals and associated clinics for the implementation of a complete EMR system, use of advanced analytics and development of IT governance, privacy and security plans.

The American Hospital Association also recognized the health system as a "Most Wired Advanced" organization.

"Achieving Stage 7 recognition further reinforces the success our teams have reached in building an information technology infrastructure that enhances the ability of our providers, care teams and staff to care for our patients," said Tracy Parham, RN, UNC Health Care's CIO.
