Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute developed a research population discovery tool that can examine and validate the feasibility of clinical studies using EHR data.
The Accrual to Clinical Trials Network is an open-access platform available to researchers throughout the National Institutes of Health's Clinical and Translational Science Award consortium. The ACT Network currently comprises more than 125 million patient records from institutions including Penn State Health Milton S. Hersey (Pa.) Medical Center.
The network currently contains de-identified data from 41 clinical and translational science award organizations in the U.S. The number of involved organizations is expected to increase to 57 later this year.
The tool is free to access for all Penn State University researchers.
