Through a partnership with PeraHealth, Fairfield, Calif.-based NorthBay Health was able to integrate an early warning algorithm with its Oracle Cerner EHR system that led to a 16 percent decrease in the mortality rate.
PeraHealth's Rothman Index algorithm takes available information from the EHR to create a view of a patient's condition over time.
In addition to the 16 percent decrease in mortality rate, the health system has seen a 30 percent decrease in unplanned transfers to the intensive care unit since the implementation of the Rothman Index, according to a Dec. 19 PeraHealth news release.
NorthBay replaced the Modified Early Warning System with the PeraHealth Rothman Index.
