Memphis, Tenn.-based Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare is moving to an Epic EHR system.
According to a Jan. 23 press release Methodist Le Bonheur shared with Becker's, the move comes as the health system looks to provide patients with a single integrated EHR system in which clinicians can access patient health records from every Methodist Le Bonheur care setting.
"Epic allows for patients and physicians to have a seamless connection with each other — further delivering on our commitment to more personalized care and a better patient experience," Monica Wharton, executive vice president and chief administrative officer at Methodist, said in the release.
The move will also allow patients to have access to MyChart, where they will be able to check-in electronically for appointments, request prescription refills and communicate with their care team members.
The health system said the transition will be a "multi-year journey," but it will not affect patient care or staff workflows.
