Meditech is celebrating 50 years as a health information technology vendor this month.
Three things to know about the EHR company:
1. A. Neil Pappalardo founded Medical Information Technology on Aug. 4, 1969. Currently, he serves as the company's chairman.
2. Meditech maintains 24 percent of the U.S. EHR market share, according to a news release.
3. The Westwood, Mass.-based company comprises more than 3,500 employees and 2,3000 global customers.
"I have always believed that computers could contribute to the improvement of the national healthcare system in America, and I am proud to see over the course of 50 years, this vision has been realized," Mr. Pappalardo said. "Patients are now able to access their medical information through an online portal, physicians can see their patients' care history across the continuum, and organizations are more effectively monitoring data to better treat their patient population."
