Louisiana health system to deploy Meditech EHR across 5 hospitals

Willis-Knighton Health System in Shreveport, La., announced on Nov. 14 that it will renew its partnership with Meditech and transition to its mobile, web-based EHR system.

Willis-Knighton implemented Meditech's legacy system in the 1990s. The health system will deploy the new EHR across its five hospitals and 140 clinics.

"We are upgrading to Meditech's Expanse system because it meets the high-quality standards we are seeking as we upgrade data management at Willis-Knighton," said James K. Elrod, president and CEO of Willis-Knighton Health System, according to the release. "This will not only enhance care, it will also enhance the quality of life for our physicians and other staff who use our [EHR]."

By implementing the Expanse EHR, Willis-Knighton will also gain access to Meditech's Expanse Population Health platform, which will allow the health system to use data-driven insights to tackle issues like patients' social determinants of health needs.

The nonprofit health system's physician network comprises more than 400 healthcare providers.
