Meditech is developing a new feature for its home care software in response to CMS' new Patient-Driven Groupings Model, which supports value-based reimbursement for home health agencies.
CMS will implement PDGM by January 2020. CMS said the new case-mix methodology, along with other changes in the Home Health Quality Reporting Program, will save home health agencies an estimated $60 million annually, beginning in 2020. Additionally, the rule will also eliminate seven quality measures that home health agencies are required to report.
The new PDGM grouper Meditech is building into its home care software will help users calculate the health insurance prospective payment system code based on patients' data. Meditech users will be able to view how each patient data contributes to HIPPS as well as the projected reimbursement for the 30-day period.
