The House passed appropriations legislation that would give the VA $1.9 billion for its Cerner EHR modernization program if it is signed into law, FedScoop reported Aug. 1.
The legislation would allocate $1.2 billion for the Oracle Cerner EHR contract, $424 million for infrastructure readiness preparations associated with the EHR system, and $253 million for the EHR program's management.
This comes after the VA decided to halt the Cerner EHR rollout indefinitely until it can address problems with the system at the five VA medical facilities already using it.
