Health iPass, an Oak Brook, Ill.-based medical billing service, has partnered with athenahealth to streamline patient payment options, according to a press release.
As part of athenahealth's Marketplace program, Health iPass will be available to the 120,000 healthcare providers in the company's network. According to the release, the Health iPass integration will "optimize upfront patient payment collections, establish price transparency through cost estimates at the point-of-service, capture a card-on-file to reduce accounts receivable and days in A/R, and automate back end processes such as payment posting and demographic write-backs."
The Health iPass system will also offer athenahealth users automatic appointment reminders, pre-arrival and kiosk-based check-in and payment options, and automated e-statements in its efforts to simplify the patient revenue cycle.
