eClinicalWorks debuts 'open interoperability' development platform

eClinicalWorks introduced a data sharing platform for third-party developers, dubbed "eClinicalWorks Open Interoperability," at its conference in Dallas Oct. 6.

The platform enables third-party developers to build patient-facing applications that are compatible with facilities on the eClinicalWorks network. To promote this compatibility, eClinicalWorks is leveraging the data exchange framework Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources, known as FHIR.

To connect with these third-party applications, hospitals must enable application programming interface access through the eClinicalWorks EHR.

eClinicalWorks officials plan to launch the platform to developers in December.
