Cerner convenes team of 20+ businesses to support Veterans Affairs EHR go-live

Cerner has established a team of 24 technology businesses to support its work with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Former VA Secretary David Shulkin, MD, released the agency's plan to scrap VistA for a systemwide Cerner EHR during a news briefing in mid-2017. The VA has since finalized a $10 billion contract to implement a Cerner EHR over a 10-year period, beginning with test sites in 2020.

Here are the 24 businesses that will provide expertise related to the VA's EHR implementation, listed in alphabetical order:

"This is the beginning of a long transformational journey," Travis Dalton, president of Cerner Government Services, said in a news release. "Our nation's veterans deserve the highest quality care and we are confident we have brought the right players to this team to succeed in our collective mission."

The EHR modernization team plans to outline its strategy for the project during the Cerner Health Conference, slated for Oct. 8-11 in Kansas City, Mo.
