Baltimore health department snags $8.4M grant for new EHR system

The Baltimore City Health Department received an $8.4 million CDC grant to create a new EHR system and hire at least 12 new employees.

The EHR implementation process will take five years. Baltimore aims for the new EHR system to make it easier to access records and data from other health systems, according to a Dec. 15 Baltimore City Health Department news release.

"This grant supports direct spending on much-needed resources that invest in our depleted workforce following the aftermath of the pandemic," Health Commissioner Letitia Dzirasa, MD, said. "We will use this important funding for public health infrastructure allowing us to establish more resilient internal systems, processes, and protocols."
