Allscripts on Feb. 25 announced the release of a new version of its web-based TouchWorks EHR for large ambulatory practices.
Four notes:
1. The new version of the EHR runs on the Google Chrome browser; providers do not need to install any additional software to support the new version.
2. TouchWorks 20.0 EHR is built on interoperability standards SMART on Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources, a standard for data sharing. With the standards, clinicians will be able to integrate applications for clinical decision support directly within the EHR.
3. The new EHR version features an intuitive design that will require little user training, whether a client is upgrading from an older version of TouchWorks or is new to the solution, according to the release.
4. The EHR is designed for large, multispecialty practices, management services organization platforms and academic and independent delivery networks.
