Amazon CEO of Worldwide Consumer resigns

Dave Clark, Amazon's Worldwide Consumer CEO will resign July 1 after spending 23 years with the company.

In a June 3 blog post announcing his exit, Amazon said it is in the process of creating a succession plan for Mr. Clark, and will announce an update "over the next few weeks."

Amazon did not name a replacement for Mr. Clark.

"I leave knowing that the leaders in the consumer business are world class and will take the next phase of Amazon to remarkable levels of success," wrote Mr. Clark in the blog post.

During his time at Amazon, Mr. Clark introduced robots into Amazon's warehouse and built the company's transportation arm, when partners like United Parcel Service Inc. and the U.S. Postal Service were unable to handle Amazon's surging demand, according to a June 3 Bloomberg report.

He was also known for being an expert in Amazon's supply chain.
