UCHealth-backed remote patient monitoring startup raises $45M

Remote patient monitoring company UCHealth recently closed a $45 million Series B financing round.

UCHealth partnered with BioIntelliSense in 2020 to use its BioSticker device on patients with chronic conditions, such as diabetes, heart failure and hypertension. The company's body sensor can continuously monitor patient vital signs from home and deliver insights to clinicians.

"BioIntelliSense represents the future of healthcare; medical grade monitoring with best-in-class data science feeding life-changing AI and prescriptive analytics at reasonable cost," Richard Zane, MD, chief innovation officer at UCHealth, said in the July 28 news release. "As one of BioIntelliSense's earliest partners, UCHealth already is utilizing this technology to remotely observe patients for detection of deterioration, allowing for early intervention to improve outcomes."

Philips, 7wireTechnology Partners and Pendrell Corp. were among investors in the fundraising round.
