Q3's biggest healthcare deals: mRNA, digital care and cybersecurity

The biggest healthcare deals in the third quarter of 2021 were for companies focused on mRNA drug discovery, digital care and cybersecurity, according to CB Insights' third-quarter venture capital report.

Here are the 10 biggest healthcare deals in 2021's third quarter:

  1. Chinese mRNA drugmaker Abogen raised $700 million in a series C funding round.

  2. Cambridge, Mass.-based mRNA drugmaker Laronde raised $440 million in a series B funding round.

  3. Columbus, Ohio-based healthcare automation company Olive raised $400 million in a series H funding round.

  4. Chinese artificial intelligence drug discovery company XtalPi raised $400 million in a series D funding round.

  5. Charlotte, N.C.-based care platform Cityblock Health raised $400 million in a series D funding round.

  6. San Francisco-based digital healthcare provider Carbon Health raised $350 million in a series D funding round.

  7. Chinese online insurance firm Zhiyuan Zhongan raised $309 million.

  8. Chinese healthcare payment and digital care platform MediTrust Health raised $308 million in a series C funding round.

  9. Santa Clara, Calif.-based cloud security provider Netskope raised $300 million in a series H funding round.

  10. Boston-based cyber defense platform developer Cybereason raised $275 million in a series F funding round.
