Philadelphia-based Jefferson supports several types of innovation, with its commercialization efforts resulting in more than 100 inventions started and 25 new ventures that have raised more than $200 million in investments. The health system also supports 3D-printing models for patient care, surgical planning and medical education.
Jefferson also supports events such as the Health Hack, an event open to healthcare practitioners and software developers as well as design and prototyping professionals to collaborate on product and business ideation and then pitch their solutions to a panel of experts.
Finally, the health system also supports the Jefferson Accelerator Zone. JAZ is the center of innovation at Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health and hosts the Jefferson Health's Innovation Engagement Speaker Series as well as the annual "JAZ Tank" competition in the center, a "Shark Tank"-like competition that awards thousands of dollars to support winning ideas.
