Hartford HealthCare tech accelerator finds home in new innovation center

Hartford, Conn.-based Trinity College announced on March 4 the opening of its Trinity Innovation Center, which will house, among other innovation initiatives, the Digital Health CT accelerator program co-sponsored by Hartford HealthCare.

The 13,000-square-foot innovation center is located in downtown Hartford. The new space was funded by $2.5 million in grants from the state of Connecticut.

Digital Health CT will move into the center in time for the next cohort of startups to begin the three-month accelerator program in the fall.

"Our role is to provide the space for them to work and meet with their partners, and to provide Trinity faculty and others who have expertise in the types of services and products that they are working on," Thalia Giraldo, assistant director of Trinity College's Applied Learning Initiative and innovation projects, said in the announcement.

The accelerator program, which is operated by Startupbootcamp, was launched by Hartford HealthCare, Trinity College and Mansfield-based University of Connecticut School of Business in April 2019. Its first cohort of 10 healthcare technology startups began the program in November and recently wrapped with a Demo Day in February.
