Many states' COVID-19 vaccine information websites have accessibility shortcomings, according to an analysis published May 26 in JAMA Network Open.
In February, researchers examined each state's website on COVID-19 vaccine information and availability. Below are five of the main accessibility issues they found:
- Only presenting information in English
- Not enabling complete smartphone viewability
- Presenting information in a way that requires a post-high-school reading level for comprehension
- Not indicating when information was last updated
- Requiring users to search multiple sites on their own for an appointment
