Samsung expands healthcare reach with b.well partnership

Samsung announced that it will use the b.well Connected Health platform to allow Samsung Health users to access care and create a health record within a single application on Galaxy phones.

Through the partnership, Samsung Health users will have access to clinical records, health wearables data, pharmacy, laboratory and insurance data on their phones. Additionally, b.well's algorithm can recommend users receive in-person or virtual care through a network of providers that includes Walgreens, ThedaCare, Lee Health and Rise Health, according to an Oct. 9 b.well news release.

The news comes as Samsung has looked to deepen its digital healthcare presence. The technology giant recently partnered with Somerville, Mass.-based Mass General Brigham to analyze biometric data collected from the Samsung Galaxy Watch.

"As one of the world's leading electronics companies, Samsung is uniquely positioned to empower consumers with proactive insights and give them convenient access to care," Hon Pak, MD, head of the digital health team at Samsung, said in the news release. "With b.well, we are planning to create a consumer health experience that is frictionless, connected, and easy to navigate — the way healthcare should be."
