There must be more information and data sharing amongst academics, scientists and pharmaceutical companies if the healthcare sector wants to find a cure for cancer, former Vice President Joe Biden said during a panel discussion held at the National Constitution Center Wednesday, according to Philly.com.
"The more data we can accumulate … the quicker we can get a solution," Mr. Biden said at the event, adding that there is a lot that can be done to break down the existing silos between sectors that prevent information flows.
Mr. Biden lost his son, Beau, at the age of 46 after he faced a two-year battle with brain cancer. A year later, Mr. Biden went on to lead the Cancer Moonshot project while serving as vice president. His wife, Jill Biden, EdD, has been a longtime advocate to women for breast cancer prevention and co-chairs the Biden Cancer Initiative with Mr. Biden.
