IBM adds services to Watson Data Platform

IBM unveiled additions to refine data on its Watson Data Platform Nov. 2.

The Watson Data Platform is an integrated set of cloud-based tools and services, which IBM rolled out to help data scientists and developers gain insights. Through Watson Data Platform, users are able to access artificial intelligence and data analytics services.

The expanded offerings include data catalog and data refinery services to help data scientists and developers analyze and prepare enterprise data — which might reside in different locations or in different formats — for AI applications.

The Watson Data Platform also provides a foundation for secure data sharing between business teams on public and private clouds.

"The key to AI starts with a strong data foundation," said Derek Schoettle, general manager of the IBM Watson Data Platform. "For companies to innovate and compete with AI, they need a way to grasp and organize data coming in from every source, and to use this complete index of data as the backbone of every decision and initiative."
