With cyberattacks on the healthcare industry escalating, chief information security officers are calling for more support and education from federal authorities, according to a recent College of Healthcare Information Management Executives and Association for Executives in Healthcare Information Security survey.
For the Oct. 18 report, CHIME and AEHIS polled their CISO members to better understand the cybersecurity threats they have been experiencing and how to reduce attacks.
Here's what the survey respondents said when asked what their providers need to mitigate cybersecurity incidents:
- Grants and/or federal assistance: 40 percent
- Regional extension centers with on-hand cyber experts to offer guidance: 33.3 percent
- Closer relationships with federal authorities, including FBI and Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency: 16.7 percent
- Clearer understanding of when it is OK to share threat information: 10 percent
