Christopher Krebs, director of the federal agency overseeing cybersecurity and protection for hospitals, was fired on Nov. 17, according to Politico.
Four details:
1. President Donald Trump fired Mr. Krebs from his post as director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency in the Department of Homeland Security.
2. With Mr. Krebs at the helm, CISA has been tracking ransomware attacks at U.S. hospitals this year, and the agency issued a statement on Nov. 16 warning there is a "credible, ongoing and persistent" cybersecurity threat to healthcare providers.
3. During his time at the agency, Mr. Krebs built relationships with government and private security experts and the agency offered healthcare organizations developing COVID-19 vaccines as part of Operation Warp Speed cybersecurity help.
4. Matthew Travis is deputy director of CISA and next in line to fill the director role, according to Politico.
