Ransomware attacks increased tenfold in 2017, according to a Malwarebytes report.
For its "2017 State of Malware" report, the computer security firm analyzed telemetry data gathered from its products from January to November 2016 and January to November 2017.
Here are three study insights.
1. Ransomware against consumers went up more than 93 percent while ransomware against businesses increased 90 percent in 2017.
2. Between July 2017 and September 2017, there was a 700 percent increase in ransomware. That was dominated by two families: Globelmposter (up 341 percent from July 2017to August 2017) and WannaCry (up 375 percent from August 2017to September 2017).
