New England health insurance company Point32Health is dealing with a ransomware attack, The Record reported April 19.
The health insurer, which was formed through the merger of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan, discovered the ransomware April 17 in accounts for service members, accounts, brokers and providers.
No ransomware group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
"After detecting the unauthorized party, and out of an abundance of caution, we proactively took certain systems offline to contain the threat," a Point32Health news release said. "We have notified law enforcement and regulators, and are working with third-party cybersecurity experts to conduct a thorough investigation into this incident and remediate the situation."
