McLaren faces 3 lawsuits over ransomware attack

Three lawsuits have been filed against Grand Blanc, Mich.-based McLaren Health Care after a Russian ransomware gang allegedly stole the personal data of millions in a ransomware attack, GovInfoSecurity reported Oct. 10.

The lawsuits, filed in Michigan federal court by former and current patients of the health system, all allege that McLaren was negligent in protecting the plaintiffs' data from hackers.

McLaren told the publication that it contacted law enforcement about the incident after hacking group Black Cat/AlphV took responsibility for the Sept. 5 hack.

The group claims to have stolen 6 terabytes of data from the health system.
