One month after a cyberattack shut down Maryland's health system, healthcare staff are still reporting issues with digital systems, The Washington Post reported Jan. 8.
State health workers reported having issues accessing shared drives and data and in some cases are having to share equipment.
On Dec. 4, staff noticed unusual behavior within the digital health system. Later that day, workers suspected the behavior may be a cyberattack and state information security staff moved to control the damage. The cause of the attack is unknown, but the FBI is investigating, according to the report.
Despite the restoration of many systems, some are still down. Transaction completion, access to certain Medicaid funds and issuance of nurse licenses have all been affected.
A hearing is scheduled for Jan. 13 to investigate what caused the attack.
